What is a giclee print? Some people think of prints as cheap reproductions of an original work of art. Admittedly, some are, but my perfectionist streak only permits me to have my work reproduced in the highest quality reprints. Otherwise it's not worth it. The term "giclee" is bandied about a lot these days. One just has to go on the internet to see companies offering them for fire sale prices. However, there is no substitute for working directly with the print publisher, using the most advanced technology and color capacity, and the best papers and canvas. The difference between a quickie "giclee" process and the real thing is painfully obvious to me and others acquainted with the art of printmaking. If you want to learn more, please refer to Stan Bowman's website, PERFECTARTPRINTS.COM for an exhaustive look at giclee printing. You'll understand why I prefer his work to all others. |
